The town of Korčula observed from the sea is depicted on this artistic and partially coloured lithograph. Apart from city fortifications, ramparts and recognizable city towers and city palaces, the church of St. Marko with the bell tower is clearly visible in the view of the city. A fishing boat and a vivid motif of a local fisherman are represented in the foreground. The fishing economy, along with shipping, was the foundation of a five-hundred-year Venetian presence on the island, which the author also notes with the Italian version of the island name (Curzola). As with other Zahradniczek views, the commercial activity of the harbour is emphasized, with a sailing yacht in the background, as well as fishing activity in the bay. The label Rud. Alt. Del. … K.k. ausßchl.priv. Chromolithographie von Alois Leykam in Wien…Jos. Zahradnichez senior lith. is below the bottom edge of the view.
