The map shows the area between Zadar and Kotor described in the travel book «Itinerario italiano, o descrizione dei viaggi per le strade più frequentate alle principali città d’Italia» published by Giuseppe and Pietro Vallardi in Milan. The map was enclosed to the aforesaid travel book to help the reader better understand the route described in the book. It shows the coast, the islands and the Dalmatian hinterland with all the main settlements, network of rivers and major roads.
