This view comes from the work «Galerie Agreable du Monde» published in Leiden in 1729 in as much as 66 volumes. This view shows the harbour and the town of Hvar as seen from the south. Although it is based on some earlier Venetian source, this representation is not as realistic as we would expect. This especially goes for the representation of relief, which is stylized (oversized). In the representation of the settlement of Hvar, only basic contours are recognizable while the rest is the fruit of the author’s imagination. In the immediate proximity of the settlement the Franciscan monastery and the cathedral in the town center can be seen. The church structure featured in the western part of the town could represent the Dominican church dedicated to St. Mark (pulled down in 1807). In front of the harbour of Hvar the author indicated schematically the islands of Paklinski otoci not providing information about their names.
