This map was published in the first edition of the 'Viaggio in Dalmazia' travelogue by A. Fortis, which also contains a map of Trogir, Split and Makarska surroundings and Dalmatian islands. The map is very detailed and since it is based on Fortis's own observations, it is very accurate, especially the hydrographic network and relief, which is marked with shaded mollehils. An interesting comparison is made with the map number 211 from this catalogue which shows a map of the French edition of the travelogue published in Bern in 1776. The Italian map is almost double the size and much more legible, although the French edition faithfully conveys all the relevant information as well.
